Hey everyone! I’m so excited to share with you today a review of an amazing sewing project – the Smultron Dress! This video will not only showcase the dress I made for a recent wedding, but also provide some dress pattern ideas and tips for sewing your own wedding guest dress.

First things first, let’s talk about the Smultron Dress. This pattern is from Named Clothing, a Finnish indie pattern company known for their stylish and contemporary designs. I chose this pattern because I fell in love with its elegant silhouette and unique shoulder straps. The dress has a fitted bodice with darts and a flowy skirt that hits just below the knee, making it the perfect choice for a summer wedding.

The fabric I used for this dress is a gorgeous floral print cotton sateen that I found at my local fabric store. The colors were vibrant and the fabric had a nice weight to it, making it easy to work with and giving the dress a beautiful drape. The pattern required about 3 yards of fabric, so make sure to have enough on hand before starting your project.

Now, onto the construction of the dress. The Smultron Dress pattern was relatively simple to follow, with clear instructions and illustrations to guide me through each step. I started by cutting out all of the pattern pieces and transferred the markings onto the fabric using tailor’s chalk. I then sewed the bodice pieces together, attaching the lining and adding boning to the side seams for extra support.

Next, I moved on to the skirt. I gathered the skirt panels and attached them to the bodice, creating a beautiful flowy silhouette. The shoulder straps were a bit tricky to sew, as they required some precision and patience to get them just right. I also added an invisible zipper to the back of the dress, which gave it a polished and professional finish.

After completing the dress, I tried it on and was thrilled with how it turned out. The fit was perfect and the dress was so comfortable to wear. I paired it with some strappy heels and dainty jewelry, making it the perfect outfit for a wedding. I received so many compliments on my dress and felt like a million bucks!
