Hey, everyone! Welcome back to another episode of Rendering for Fashion. In this episode, we are going to be focusing on rendering a silk dress with sheer and sparkles. This is part one of a two-part series where we will be discussing the color aspect of the rendering process. So, grab your sketchbook and pens, and let’s get started!

When creating a fashion illustration, it is important to pay attention to the details of the fabric and textures. In this tutorial, we are going to be rendering a silk dress with sheer fabric and sparkles. Silk is known for its luxurious and shiny appearance, and it can be a bit tricky to render realistically. But don’t worry, I will walk you through the steps to create a stunning silk dress in your fashion illustration.

First, let’s talk about the color palette for this rendering. For the silk dress, I have chosen a pastel pink color. Pastel pink is soft, feminine, and perfect for a silk fabric. It has a delicate and elegant look that is ideal for a dress design. To add some interest and dimension to the dress, I will also be incorporating sheer fabric and sparkles. The sheer fabric will be a light cream color, while the sparkles will be a metallic silver.

Now, let’s start by sketching the outline of the dress on our paper. I like to use a light pencil for this initial sketch so that I can easily erase any mistakes. Once the outline is complete, we can start adding the details of the fabric and textures. For the silk dress, I will be using a smooth and flowing texture to capture the shiny and luxurious look of silk.

Next, let’s focus on the color of the dress. I will be using a combination of alcohol-based markers and colored pencils to achieve a realistic and vibrant color. To start, I will lay down a base layer of pastel pink with my alcohol-based markers. I like to start with a light color and gradually build up the intensity and depth of the color.

After laying down the base color, I will use my colored pencils to add shading and highlights to the dress. Silk fabric has a shiny and reflective surface, so it is important to add highlights and shadows to create the illusion of depth and movement. I will use a lighter pink shade to create highlights on the areas of the dress that catch the light, such as the folds and wrinkles.

Once the base color and shading are complete, we can move on to rendering the sheer fabric. Sheer fabric has a translucent and airy quality that adds a delicate and romantic touch to the dress. I will be using a light cream color for the sheer fabric, which will contrast nicely with the pastel pink of the silk dress.

To render the sheer fabric, I will use a light touch with my markers and colored pencils to create a soft and ethereal look. I will focus on creating subtle folds and wrinkles in the fabric to give it a flowing and airy appearance. I will also add some highlights to the sheer fabric to mimic the sheen and transparency of the fabric.

Finally, let’s add some sparkles to the dress. Sparkles add a touch of glamour and sophistication to the design, and they can really make the dress stand out. I will be using a metallic silver color for the sparkles, which will contrast nicely with the soft pastel colors of the dress.

To create the sparkles, I will use a white gel pen to add small dots and lines to the dress. I will focus on areas of the dress that catch the light, such as the neckline, sleeves, and hemline. The sparkles will add a touch of shimmer and sparkle to the design, making it look glamorous and eye-catching.

And there you have it – a stunning silk dress with sheer fabric and sparkles. By paying attention to the color, texture, and details of the fabric, you can create a realistic and beautiful fashion illustration. Stay tuned for part two of this series, where we will be focusing on adding details and finishing touches to our rendering. Thanks for watching, and happy illustrating!
