Hey everyone, welcome back to my channel! Today, I am super excited to show you how to make a shirt on Second Life using both mesh and standard techniques. Creating your own clothing on Second Life can be a fun and rewarding experience, and I hope this tutorial will inspire you to get creative and start designing your own unique clothes for your avatar.

First, let’s talk a little bit about the difference between mesh and standard clothing on Second Life. Mesh clothing is created using 3D modeling software and provides a more realistic and detailed look. It conforms to your avatar’s shape and moves with your body, creating a more lifelike appearance. On the other hand, standard clothing is created using textures and prims within Second Life’s building tools. While standard clothing may not have the same level of detail as mesh clothing, it can still be customized and styled in a variety of ways.

Now that we have a basic understanding of the two types of clothing, let’s get started on creating our shirt. For this tutorial, I will be using Blender, a free and open-source 3D modeling software, to create the mesh shirt. If you are not familiar with Blender or 3D modeling, don’t worry – I will guide you through the process step by step.

First, open Blender and create a new project. Select the default cube object and press “TAB” to enter Edit mode. Here, you can manipulate the vertices, edges, and faces of the cube to create the basic shape of your shirt. Use the resizing and extruding tools to sculpt the cube into a shirt-like shape, keeping in mind the proportions of your avatar.

Once you are satisfied with the shape of your shirt, it’s time to add some details. You can use the Knife tool to cut out holes for the neck and sleeves, and the Loop Cut tool to add seams and other design elements. Be creative and experiment with different techniques to make your shirt unique and stylish.

After you have finished modeling your shirt, it’s time to UV unwrap it. This process involves flattening the 3D model into a 2D image, which will be used to apply textures to your shirt. Select all faces of the shirt in Edit mode, press “U” and choose “Unwrap” from the menu. Blender will generate a UV map for your shirt, which you can export as an image file.

Next, open an image editing software like GIMP or Photoshop and create a texture for your shirt. You can add patterns, logos, and other details to make your shirt look more realistic. Once you have created your texture, save it as a PNG file and import it back into Blender.

Now, it’s time to apply the texture to your shirt. In Blender, go to the Materials tab and create a new material for your shirt. In the Texture tab, add a new texture and select your texture image. You can adjust the mapping and scale of the texture to fit your shirt properly.

Finally, export your shirt as a Collada (.dae) file, which is compatible with Second Life. In Second Life, go to the Build menu and select Upload Mesh Model. Choose your .dae file and upload it to your inventory. You can now wear your custom-made mesh shirt on your avatar and show off your design skills to the world!

Now that we have created a mesh shirt, let’s move on to making a standard shirt using Second Life’s building tools. This method is more beginner-friendly and does not require any external software.

Start by going to your inventory and selecting the “Create” tab. Choose the option to create a new shirt and select the type of shirt you want to make – male, female, or unisex. You will be presented with a template for your shirt, which you can customize and style using the building tools.

Use the texture tab to add colors and patterns to your shirt. You can also use the sculpt tab to add buttons, pockets, and other details. Experiment with different options to make your shirt stand out and reflect your personal style.

Once you are happy with your design, save your shirt and wear it on your avatar. You can also share your creation with friends or sell it in the Second Life marketplace to make a profit. The possibilities are endless when it comes to creating your own clothing on Second Life!
