Hey everyone, it’s (Your Name) here and I just got back from watching the live-action adaptation of Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” and let me tell you, I am absolutely devastated. As a huge fan of the original animated movie, I had high hopes for this new version, but unfortunately, it fell far short of my expectations.

First of all, let me start by saying that the casting of Halle Bailey as Ariel was spot on. She brought a fresh and captivating energy to the character, and her singing was truly beautiful. However, the rest of the cast left much to be desired. Melissa McCarthy as Ursula was completely miscast and failed to capture the villainous essence of the character. Jacob Tremblay as Flounder was underwhelming, and Awkwafina as Scuttle felt out of place.

But the biggest disappointment for me was Javier Bardem as King Triton. I had high hopes for his portrayal of Ariel’s father, but he seemed disinterested and lacked the commanding presence that the character demands. It felt like he was phoning it in, and it really took me out of the movie.

And don’t even get me started on the CGI. The underwater scenes looked cheap and poorly executed, with the characters’ movements looking stiff and unnatural. The decision to make Sebastian the crab a realistic-looking creature was a huge mistake, as he ended up looking more creepy than endearing.

But what really left me feeling robbed was the way the story was handled. The filmmakers took too many liberties with the original plot, adding unnecessary subplots and changing key moments that made the original movie so beloved. The iconic musical numbers were lackluster and forgettable, with the exception of Bailey’s beautiful rendition of “Part of Your World.” The pacing felt off, and the emotional beats didn’t hit as hard as they should have.

Overall, “The Little Mermaid” live-action adaptation was a huge disappointment for me. I had high hopes for this movie, but it failed to live up to the magic of the original. The casting, CGI, and storytelling all fell short, leaving me feeling like I had been robbed of a truly memorable experience. Here’s hoping that Disney can do better with their next live-action adaptation.
