Wilder Gown Pattern Review | DIY Floral Maxi Dress
155KHey everyone, welcome back to my channel! Today I’m super excited to share with you my review of the Wilder Gown Pattern by Friday Pattern Co. This pattern has been making waves in the sewing community, and I couldn’t wait to try it out for myself. In this video, I’ll be showing you how I made a beautiful floral maxi dress using the Wilder Gown Pattern. So let’s get started!
First off, let me tell you a little bit about the Wilder Gown Pattern. It’s a versatile pattern that allows you to create a flowy, bohemian-style dress in either a midi or maxi length. The pattern includes options for a gathered three-tiered skirt, billowy sleeves, and either a high or low neckline. It’s perfect for when you want to feel effortlessly chic and feminine.
For my version of the Wilder Gown, I chose to make a maxi dress with the high neckline and billowy sleeves. I also opted for a beautiful floral fabric that I had been saving for a special project. The Wilder Gown Pattern calls for lightweight woven fabrics like rayon, chiffon, or cotton voile, so my floral fabric was a perfect match.
Before I started cutting out my fabric, I carefully read through the instructions that came with the pattern. I found them to be clear and easy to follow, which gave me confidence as I began sewing. The pattern pieces were nicely drafted and the markings matched up perfectly, making the cutting process a breeze.
Once I had all my fabric pieces cut out, it was time to start sewing. The first step was to sew the bodice together, which involved sewing the front and back pieces at the shoulders and sides. I then attached the sleeves and finished off the neckline with a narrow hem. The instructions guided me through each step, and before I knew it, I had a completed bodice that fit perfectly.
Next, it was time to tackle the skirt. The Wilder Gown Pattern features a three-tiered skirt that adds volume and movement to the dress. I gathered each tier using the instructions provided, and then attached them to the bodice. The skirt came together quickly and easily, and I was thrilled with how full and flowy it looked.
Finally, I added the finishing touches to my Wilder Gown. I inserted an invisible zipper in the back for easy on and off, and hemmed the bottom of the dress to the desired length. I also hand-stitched the sleeve hems for a clean finish. The end result was a stunning floral maxi dress that made me feel like a bohemian goddess.
Overall, I absolutely loved sewing with the Wilder Gown Pattern. The design is beautiful and flattering, and the instructions were straightforward and easy to follow. I appreciated the options for customization, such as choosing between a midi or maxi length, and the ability to mix and match different design elements.
If you’re looking to make a statement piece for your wardrobe, I highly recommend giving the Wilder Gown Pattern a try. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced sewist, you’ll enjoy the process of creating a dress that’s uniquely yours. I can’t wait to wear my Wilder Gown out and about, and I’m already planning my next version in a different fabric. I hope you enjoyed this review and are inspired to sew your own Wilder Gown!
