Styling Challenge: Trying To Style Trends That Are OUT Of My COMFORT ZONE! | ft. MAIAZINE
175KHey everyone! Today I’m super excited to share with you all a styling challenge I recently did with my friend Maiazine. In this video, we decided to step out of our comfort zones and try to style trends that we wouldn’t typically wear. It was definitely a fun and eye-opening challenge, so let’s dive right in!
First off, let me introduce you to Maiazine. She has a completely different style aesthetic than me – she’s more into edgy and streetwear looks, while I tend to lean towards more classic and feminine styles. We thought it would be interesting to see how we could push ourselves to experiment with new trends and incorporate them into our own personal styles.
For our first challenge, we decided to try out the oversized blazer trend. This is something that Maiazine is already familiar with, but for me, it was definitely a bit intimidating. I typically prefer more fitted silhouettes, so wearing such a boxy and oversized piece was a big departure from my usual style.
To make the oversized blazer work for me, I decided to pair it with a simple white t-shirt, skinny jeans, and pointed-toe ankle boots. I also added some delicate gold jewelry to balance out the masculine vibe of the blazer. Surprisingly, I actually ended up really liking the look! It felt fresh and modern, and I could see myself incorporating this trend into my wardrobe more often.
Maiazine, on the other hand, styled her oversized blazer with a bold graphic tee, cargo pants, and chunky sneakers. She added some oversized hoops and a sleek bun to complete the look. The outfit definitely screamed her signature edgy style, and she rocked it with confidence.
Next up, we tackled the neon trend. Neon is a trend that has been making a comeback in recent years, but it can be a tricky one to pull off. I decided to go for a neon green sweater paired with black skinny jeans and white sneakers. I kept the rest of the outfit simple to let the neon piece be the focal point.
Maiazine chose a neon pink oversized hoodie and styled it with black biker shorts, chunky combat boots, and a beanie. She also added some layered chains and statement sunglasses to add some edge to the look. The neon really popped against her dark and edgy outfit, and she totally nailed the trend.
One trend that neither Maiazine nor I typically gravitate towards is the animal print trend. Animal prints can be bold and sometimes intimidating, but we wanted to see if we could make them work for us. I decided to go for a classic leopard print midi skirt paired with a black bodysuit and strappy heels.
Maiazine, on the other hand, chose a snakeskin print blazer and styled it with a simple white tank top, distressed denim, and pointy-toe mules. She added some gold jewelry and a sleek ponytail to keep the look chic and polished. The animal print trend definitely pushed us out of our comfort zones, but we both ended up loving our outfits!
Lastly, we decided to try our hand at the monochromatic trend. Monochromatic outfits can be tricky to pull off, as they require finding pieces in the same color family that work well together. I chose to go for a monochromatic all-white look, with a white button-down shirt, white jeans, and white sneakers.
Maiazine opted for a monochromatic all-black outfit, with a black crop top, black high-waisted trousers, and black ankle boots. She added a black leather jacket and some silver jewelry to add some texture and interest to the look. The monochromatic trend was definitely a fun challenge, and we both enjoyed experimenting with different shades and textures within the same color palette.
Overall, this styling challenge was such a fun and rewarding experience. It pushed us to step out of our comfort zones and try new trends that we wouldn’t typically wear. We both learned a lot about our personal styles and how we can incorporate new trends into our wardrobes in a way that feels authentic and true to ourselves.
I hope you enjoyed watching us take on this challenge, and maybe it inspired you to step out of your own comfort zone and try something new with your style. Remember, fashion is all about expression and creativity, so don’t be afraid to take risks and have fun with your outfits!
Until next time, happy styling!
